Pet Hair Solution!

I just discovered the most amazing product. It's called the Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pet Hair. It is fantastic. I have two long haired cats and a long haired dog (not to mention my long hair!) so I had resigned myself to furry furniture. But this thing works! I used it on my couch, rocking chair and Bed skirt so far. I'm so excited I want to use it on everything! I am totally using it on the carpet in the car. I am picturing using it on my wool winter coat. It works wonders! The packages says to throw it out when it gets full (which was one couch for me) but I popped one of the rollers out and emptied it. It popped right back in and works fine. No more pet hair on my guests' pants (unless the dog decides to rub up against them).

Furniture Arranged

I went into the school today and dug into the disaster that was my classroom. The cleaners left everything in a terrible mess. Desk drawers were in the wrong room. Shelves everywhere, things very ASKEW! Anyway, so I decided to get things in a bit more order so that I could start to visualize where things were going and how my days would proceed. I didn't follow my amazing furniture plans exactly, as I have decided to use centers in my room.
I also did not want to come into class on the first week back and have to face all of that mess. This way I am much more relaxed about the whole thing. I was working at it for over three hours. I also managed to find a great stereo in the portable (where miscellaneous items go to die) that plays cd's and cassettes (essential for my listening center). It also supports my split track tapes (a tape that allows you to turn the voices off and sing along to the music...often used for choirs). All in all, it was a very productive day.

Plans for Furniture

I went to the school today with my measuring tape. I took some measurements and made some decisions about where I want the furniture in my new classroom to be placed. Over the summer, they have a cleaning crew come through the school and redo all the floors. They have to remove every piece of furniture from my room and replace it when they are done. SO I decided that I would let them to all the work for me and move my furniture back into the places I want it. So the above pictures are how it looks right now.

So I  went to my trusty paint program and drew up a terrible, yet useful set of room plans to tell them where I want my furniture. I numbered each piece of furniture and labelled them in real life with pink sticky notes. I really hope they move at least the big stuff for me. I can move little stuff on my own. So this is what I accomplished today. Planning work for others!
